safe house

Two of my friends have experienced the same thing:
homelessness.

Neither did anything to deserve it and neither chose it. One friend was kicked out of his home because someone thought he should get a job and a real house. The american dream. Another friend's husband was abusive but she had no where to go. Well-meaning friends offered both "two weeks" at my place. I don't know how long my life is going to be out of control.

limitted generosity during unlimitted chaos.

Wouldn't it be awesome to have safe houses dot the Northwest? Maybe each Friends church might consider sponsoring a family to open up their home to other church members who are in hard times. Can't we start by loving each other? Maybe I can just start by taking the limits off of the time and money I allow others.

Sometimes limits help, though. Ah, another case of disernment needed. What, being in relationship with God? No formula, eh?

we all live in a yellow submarine

I smiled with God today when I saw the beautiful yellow tree outside my window and again when a beautiful yellow schoolbus was driving throught the pouring rain. It's like the sun had been stored up inside of the tree and the bus, and even the dashed yellow line skipping up College Street, just for a raining today.

Muppet Personality Test

You Are Kermit

Hi, ho! Lovable and friendly, you get along well with everyone you know.
You're a big thinker, and sometimes you over think life's problems.
Don't worry - everyone know's it's not easy being green.
Just remember, time's fun when you're having flies!

do pacemakers ring?

Sitting in class at 10:10am on Monday morning, some students respond to the early morning stimulation of Spanish class differently than others. One of the most outspoken students regularly entertains me. His classmates keep him in line and he keeps us in stitches.

The recent quote came about when a cellphone's ring interrupted the studious atmophere.
"it's not a cellphone" he informed up, "it's a pacemaker."

found

My cellphone was found! Judy in the MAT helped me make the call last Thursday. I left in in the GFU student story (which I call the bookstore even though the textbooks have moved to the basement of the library). Chrissy reminds me that this isn't the first time I have left something in a bookstore: waterbottle in St. Paul's crypt bookstore two summers past.
